Realization of a (400 A/DC-10 MHz) clamping HOKA current probe

This work presents a first approach in high fidelity current measurement using GMR (giant magneto resistance) sensors combined along with an air coil to obtain a wide bandwidth current probe. The proposed probe is a prototype of a clamping version capable to capture currents of +/400 amperes from DC up to 10 MHz. This paper presents an argument for this equipment as well as the implementation of the HOKA principle applied to merge a four GMR sensors arrangement signal with the output of a 40 winding air coil. Before discussing measurements, each signal path and the evaluation circuit is described in detail.
